What is the Deal with Some EV Chargers being so Difficult to Plug into a Car?
I thought it was my fault the first time I encountered this problem. Maybe there was a special angle you're supposed to hit? But no, it really was just a case of the connector being a little too big to properly connect without my forcing it a little bit.
Same problem disconnecting, by the way, and I really don't like what applying that kind of force to the charging port could do to the car.
This is just one of the many issues I've encountered with public chargers seemingly not having had enough thought put into their design.
Cables are often too rigid or too short, the displays are too difficult to read in the dark, the touchscreens fail at even a hint of cold weather (in Canada, no less). Getting chargers in the ground is all well and good, but there needs to be more thought put into the experience of actually using the things, because that's unfortunately lacking too much of the time.
