The automotive industry had many hurdles last year, however overall automotive sales were strong in the U.S. and reached 15.5 million vehicles.
Analyzing the EV segment sales in 2023, I can highlight important trends and insights from it:
Trend: Vehicle electrification increased market share and reached 7.5% in the American market
Record: BEV sales reached 1.17 million vehicles/year for the first time
Dominance: Tesla models Y and 3 lead by a large margin
Question: Will traditional OEMs increase market share in this field and hit mass-adoption when new EV vehicles models come to market? To be seen.
What to Expect?: The year of 2024 will be as challenging as 2023 (if not more than). Industrywide sales are anticipated to plateau.
