Automotive companies assured that they will invest 12 thousand 323 million dollars in Mexico to produce electric cars, which consolidates the development of electromobility in the country, assured the American Industries Group. On the one hand, in recent announcements, Elon Musk's Tesla confirmed the installation of an assembly plant in Santa Catarina , Nuevo León, where it will manufacture a new generation electric vehicle, for which the firm will allocate 5.5 billion dollars.



While in March 2023, the Chinese company Jetour intends to invest 3 billion dollars in the installation of an assembly plant for combustion and electric vehicles, where the plan is to place it in the Bajío. Another one that adds to the committed investments is from the BMW brand, where more than 860 million dollars will be allocated to the expansion of its plant in San Luis Potosí , where it plans to manufacture cars with this type of engine and assemble batteries. electrical.


The Netherlands-based company, Stellantis, confirmed in February 2023, the initial investment of 200 million dollars in Saltillo, Coahuila , where it plans to produce the electric version of the RAM Promaster. While in 2022, the German manufacturer Volkswagen will invest 763 million dollars in Puebla to adapt its assembly line to make electric SUVs.


General Motors in 2021 notified an investment of one billion dollars to adapt its plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, for the production of "green" trucks. Finally , Ford decided to put an additional billion dollars for its plant in Cuautitlán Izcalli , State of Mexico, which since 2020 has built the Mustang Match-E, an electric van.


The Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (Amia) said last year that Mexico exported vehicles to the United States for 2,636 million dollars , ranking as the fourth country with the largest shipments abroad.
