Mexico Grupo Bimbo Multiplies its Fleet to 2,508 Electric Vehicles

Grupo Bimbo plans to close 2023 with 2,508 electric vehicles for delivery. It includes Vekstar Stellar vanettes, JAC e10x vehicles, Scania trucks and BYD tractor trucks. These vehicles are integrated in Mexico with investment in charging infrastructure.

Mexico City, August 15, 2023.- Grupo Bimbo, a leader in the food industry, is charting a bold course in the field of electric mobility. With its sights set on an emission-free future, the company aims to close the year 2023 with a fleet of 2,508 electric vehicles for the distribution of its products.

This figure would double the number of units compared to 2022, consolidating its position as a leader in green transport in Latin America.

Jorge Zárate, Grupo Bimbo's global director of operations, underlines this achievement: 'Doubling our fleet of electric vehicles in Mexico in a single year reflects our commitment to be sustainable from the design point and move forward with conviction towards the goal of being a zero-emissions company net carbon emissions in 2050'.

The fleet covers a diversity of automotive brands and consists of 1,001 Vekstar Stellar brand vanettes, 300 JAC e10x brand vehicles, 15 Scania trucks and 6 BYD brand tractor trucks. These vehicles, powered by 100% renewable electricity, are gradually being incorporated into operations in different cities in Mexico. Investing in the necessary infrastructure for charging and maintaining these vehicles at work centers is a fundamental part of Grupo Bimbo's commitment.

With a clear vision and the horizon set in the year 2050, Grupo Bimbo is advancing with determination to become a company with no net carbon emissions. In addition, the intermediate goal of reducing total direct and indirect emissions by 50% by the year 2030 has been set.

The 1,322 new electric vehicles that will be in circulation in 2023 will contribute to avoiding the emission of 6,600 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, equivalent to planting and maintaining 250,000 trees.
