They want it to be a benchmark for the design of strategies that facilitate the use of opportunities in electromobility and nearshoring.

The National Auto Parts Industry (INA) presented the book Evolution of auto parts for electric vehicles in Mexico, with which it seeks to be a benchmark for the design of strategies that facilitate the use of opportunities in electromobility and nearshoring.

The executive president of the INA, Francisco González, explained that Mexico has the potential to be a world benchmark in the production of auto parts for electric vehicles and the book is one more tool that the industry will have for the adoption of electric vehicles and that it will help to mitigate carbon emissions.

"The book contains information and reflections to prepare us for the challenges. With the support of each and every participant in the supply chain, we will be able to position Mexico in its rightful place as a world leader in the manufacture of auto parts." Francisco González added that the automotive and auto parts industry is facing a paradigm shift in which the goal of zero emissions is the drive for innovation , which has triggered the technological change of electric mobility in Mexico and the world, strengthening the country's strategic role in this sector Mexico is a global leader .

The author of the book, Verónica Orendain de los Santos, highlighted that the great opportunity for the Mexican automotive industry in terms of electromobility is its participation within the supply chain, where the country has historically demonstrated its leadership. "It is estimated that by 2030 vehicle software will represent 30 percent of its value , while electronic and electrical components will comprise another 25 percent."

He added that batteries will represent between 30 percent and 40 percent of the remaining value of electric vehicles and the race to net zero will focus on having a production scheme that ensures the supply of critical minerals and metals necessary for its manufacture. The author explained that Mexico has a great opportunity to maintain its leadership if it manages to respond to the needs of human capital, which is why graduates of chemical engineering, electrical engineering and materials engineering, among others , will be required to cover the emerging needs of the automotive industry supply chain. But above all, industry-focused software engineers will be required.

For his part, the director of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Edmundo Montes de Oca, assured that as a country we can forge a more sustainable , prosperous future and an industry, so that the country continues to work together to achieve new goals and achieve a more positive impact on the automotive industry and the world.
