Some of the energy is lost to "transmission loss," some is converted to heat, and some is used to keep the battery at the right temperature during charging.

The funny thing is that ICE vehicles have had more than 100 years to become more efficient and can't even reach 50%, while EVs in their infancy are already nearing 80% efficiency. This efficiency not only reduces operating costs for consumers but also contributes to overall energy conservation, which is vital for addressing the resource constraints of our planet.
