According to recently released estimates from the 2020 Residential Energy Consumption Survey, annual household electricity consumption for #EVcharging averaged 2,363 kilowatt-hours (kWh), less than several other household appliances, including water heating, space heating, and air conditioning. It's all about energy efficiency.
EVs are approximately 80% efficient, meaning the electric motors convert 80% of the energy that goes into the battery into forward motion. An internal combustion vehicle is about 20% efficient, which is highly inefficient. Think of it this way: you pay $3.50 for a gallon of gas, but you only get 70 cents worth to move you down the road.
What a rip-off! Or you can charge an EV, spend $3.50 on electricity, and get $2.80 worth of mobility.
