Tesla continues to lap the field in the US when it comes to the number of new DCFC ports opened in August. Tesla’s 557 new DCFC ports opened in August accounted for an astonishing 72% of all new DCFCs opened in the month.
Tesla accounts for nearly 63% of every deployed public DCFC in the US. So far in 2023, Tesla is averaging 440 new DCFC ports opened per month, versus 316 for the rest of the industry.
ChargePoint (77) and EVgo (68) are averaging the next most new DCFC ports per month in 2023.
Rivian with its Adventure Network is in the top 10 and we expect by the end of 2024, the company should move up at least two spots.
In 2023 YTD, EVgo (542) has opened more than double the number of ports than Electrify America (247). Electrify America has seemingly slowed its expansion recently, perhaps focusing more on improving reliability.
At this current rate of new DCFC openings, the US would have roughly 45,600 DCFC ports at the end of 2024, with Tesla accounting for a bit more than 28,000 and actually declining slightly to 61.6% share of total DCFC ports.
